Hi, my name is Alex Howarth and I’m the pastor here at New Hope. My family moved to the Triple Cities mid-2017 and we are delighted to serve the congregation here in Vestal. I began my journey to full-time ministry in my teens at a Baptist church in Columbus, Ohio. My youth pastor encouraged me to pursue the gifts he saw and I did by enrolling at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. I grew in my understanding of the Bible, and met my wife, Bethany there. As I studied God’s Word a covenantal view of Scripture made the most sense and after graduating from Moody and getting married we moved to Philadelphia where I studied for my MDiv at Westminster Theological Seminary. Upon graduating I had an internship in Wilmington, Delaware, and then in 2012 we were called to our first church in Asheville, North Carolina. In February of 2017, the congregation of New Hope voted to have me as their pastor.
I am eager to see our small congregation here grow in their love for Jesus, and share His love with their families and neighbors. I hope to see the Glory of God and His Son be shared in the communities of the Triple Cities through the congregation of New Hope!
Bethany and I love to get outdoors with the kids, and enjoy the snow here in New York. We look forward to getting out for the first camping trip with kids. Bethany enjoys good music, and is an intrepid teacher to our kids. Alex enjoys all things outdoors and is currently learning archery on a recurve bow.
